Every street/avenue/lane was clogged with vehicles/cars/trucks, bumper to bumper/fender to fender/nose to tail. Drivers were fuming/irate/enraged, honking/blaring horns/sounding their alarms in frustration/despair/fury. The air was thick with exhaust fumes/pollution/smog, and the heat/humidity/suffocating atmosphere only added to the stress/tension/agony. It seemed like no one could move/go anywhere/escape this horrific/dreadful/appalling situation/predicament/nightmare.
